Breakout Board WS2812B

Postby Carl-SolderSplash » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:37 am

Following on from our Christmas tree fun, we thought we would make use of some of the WS2812B LEDs we have in stock by putting together a tiny breakout board that's 45mm by 45mm and has 25 WS2812 LEDs on.

PCBs are on order, check back in a few weeks for a demo. Our plan for them is to attach one to a WiFi DipCortex to make a multi-colored internet alert box thingy.

Sweet! I have loads of the Adafruit NeoPixels. I got the Neopixel shield with 40 of them on but not got around to using it yet.
I've tried them with the WiFiDIPCortex but wasnt able to get them working properly due to the accurate timing required for them, so for speed went and used a different LED strip that has both Clk and Data in my Cheerlights project.

Cheers

I've used the 120 WS2812 (Neopixels) LEDs with a DipCortex's SPI peripheral to generate the correctly timed pulses code is up here :

This was for the Christmas tree demo on the blog
